Whether it’s your first visit or your fiftieth, we want coming to Comprehensive Family Dental to feel simple. This page covers everything you need before your appointment: what happens at a first visit, what to bring, how insurance and payment work, and how to reach us.

What to Expect at Your First Visit

Your first appointment is mostly about getting to know you. Here’s how it usually goes:

  1. Check-In: Our team confirms your information and insurance, and helps with any paperwork you haven’t finished.
  2. A Conversation: Dr. Jay Lien asks about your dental history, any concerns and what you’d like from your care. If you feel nervous about the dentist, this is a good time to tell us.
  3. An Exam and Digital X-Rays: We check your teeth, gums and bite, and take any X-rays you need.
  4. Your Plan: Dr. Lien explains what she found in plain language, walks you through your options and answers your questions. Nothing happens until you understand it and agree.

Plan on about an hour for a first visit, so nobody has to rush.

What to Bring

  • A photo ID
  • Your dental insurance card, if you have one
  • A list of the medications you take
  • Recent X-rays from another dentist, if you have them (not required)

You can find forms and more first-visit details on our new patient page.

Insurance We Accept

We work with many PPO plans, including Aetna, Aflac, Anthem, Careington, Cigna, Connection Dental, Delta Dental, Guardian, Humana, MetLife, Principal Financial, UnitedHealthcare, Zelis, Maverest and the Elite Total Care Plan. We may also be in network through leased networks, so call us even if your plan isn’t listed. We’ll check your benefits before your visit.

We do not accept Medicaid.

No Insurance? Join Elite Smiles+

Our Elite Smiles+ Membership Club is an in-office plan for patients without dental insurance. For $99 a year, members get two exams and screenings and two routine X-rays each year, plus 15% to 20% off procedures. Benefits start right away, and there are no deductibles, waiting periods, annual maximums, claim denials or pre-approvals. There’s no age limit, and family pricing is available.

Financing Options

For larger treatment plans, CareCredit and Sunbit let you spread the cost into monthly payments. We’re happy to help you apply and find an option that fits your budget. See all of our insurance and payment options.
